Rick Handel was born in the UK and initially trained as an engineer. In 2011 he and his wife Juliane established a new business at Leithfield, 42km north of Christchurch.
For business branding purposes he became known as Rick Rubens, furniture artist extraordinaire and he creates one-off statement pieces of furniture, principally utilising recycled materials.
An example of Rick’s creative skill is his Spa area, built using recycled materials.
